"This past March break was the best!!! (one exclamation mark is not enough to describe my excitement) Joining the Holland exchange is the smartest thing I did this year, well so far. I met some very cool Haigers that I would have never met without joining this exchange. Of course, I met really cool Dutch kids and they are awesome. We spent most of our time together, partying, shopping, sight seeing, and "chillin' at the Holiday Inn". Spending your March break with your friends in Europe is SICK. The exchange is a great way to truly understand the culture of a foreign country. If you were on a normal vacation, would you even have a chance to try the HOMEMADE Dutch pancakes (totally different than the ones in Canada)? NO, but I did because I joined the Earl Haig Holland student exchange. Last but not least, shopping for souvenirs is very important as well (in PARIS and Holland)!!!"
Jackie - 2009/2010 - Earl Haig Student"I would like to start with two quotes, out of the best songs I have ever heard: 'What r u doin? We r chillin @ the holiday inn', 'Ik heb een zachte G maar ook een harde L'. I have had a great experience in the exchange. At this moment I'm talking a lot to younger people from bilingual classes, and I keep recommending them to go to Canada. I would love to come back once, to see all of you again! Just remember, if you get bored in your summer break, just take a plane, I'll be at the airport as soon as possible."
Rick - 2009/2010 - Rijnlands Lyceum Student"I loved the exchange because I actually got to experience the different lifestyle in Holland first-hand, which I could not have done if I were just a tourist. Living with a host family (thank you Dylan!), visiting the local places (Albert Heijn!) and biking were all extremely exciting. And of course there were the stroopwafels. I'm really glad I decided to participate in the exchange and I definitely plan to revisit Holland in the future."
Sarah - 2009/2010 - Earl Haig Student"This exchange was unbelievable. It's hard to find a place to start, there've been so many amazing moments. There are countless beautiful places you get to visit, wonderful people you wouldn't meet anywhere else. It's amazing how ten days can change your life. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget how much fun we had, and I plan to return to Holland in the very near future."
Kate - 2009/2010 - Earl Haig Student"Holland was my first trip away from home where I was finally on my own without my family. At first I was terrified. But it couldn't last long with the wonderful friends I made. Both Canadians and Dutch alike will cherish these friendships for a long time. The places were fantastic filling out minds with culture and experience. The memories we made and the friendships we've created will last forever in our hearts and minds. The Holland exchange changed my life, and now that it is different, I couldn't imagine my life without the people I've met and the adventures I've had. My life has changed for the better and it's all thanks to a simple program created and succeeded by our wonderful teachers, Ms. Chiu and Mr. Ahumada. I hope the friendships I've made will last forever Dutch and Canadian alike. I owe everything to THE HOLLAND EXCHANGE 2010!"
Katie - 2009/2010 - Earl Haig Student"This exchange was one of the best things that happened to me in my life. I'm lucky to have made lots of new friends that I cannot wait to see again. The things we did in Canada (Niagara Falls, outdoor camp) and in Holland/Europe (Amsterdam, Paris) were incredible because we got to learn so much from each other, and we had sooo much fun together as a group! This entire exchange has been a life-changing experience, thanks to all the awesome students and teachers. I think about the exchange and the amazing people that I met EVERY DAY and I hope to see everyone again soon, here and/or in Canada :)
(now that was totally random, but I mean every single word of it :)"
"The exchange in Canada has delivered some Dutch pupils a slight shock on cultural level. People in Canada, and especially Earl Haig, are much more agreeable and outgoing. It is fun to hang out with them and some are, in addition, remarkably pretty.
A distinct difference between our schools is that Earl Haig maintains to motivate its students through special events, clubs, tournaments, you name it.
During the exchange we have made some great friends of which most returned to Holland. We went to The Hague, Amsterdam, Gent (in Belgium) and Paris where the girls were astounded by a gargantuan Louis Vuitton.
All in all, I will go to Canada again and have enjoyed the exchange extremely.
With special thanks to the Canadian teachers."
