What to Bring
- Passport and student card
- Photocopies of passport (leave one copy behind)
- Labelled luggage tags attached to suitcases
- Copy of itinerary
- Any maps or information distributed at meetings
- Dutch phrase handout
- One warm lined jacket or coat
- Clothing for dressing in layers - long/short-sleeved t-shirts, zippered jackets, light sweaters
- Jeans and other light pants
- Sweater or sweatshirt for cool mornings or evenings
- Pyjamas
- Comfortable walking shoes with rubber soles (2 pairs)
- Extra socks
- Slippers / flip-flops
- One "dressy" outfit - shirt, tie, dress pants/ skirt & blouse or dress
- Pair of dress shoes
- Rain gear
- Small folding umbrella
- Spare pair of prescription eyeglasses or extra pair of contacts
- Day travel backpack or shoulder bag
- Money Pouch
- Camera - name tagged or labeled with tape
- Large supply of film or extra memory card (It's more expensive in Holland!)
- Toiletries - shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
- Medication - all prescriptions must be labeled if you need to bring it aboard the airplane.
- First Aid items - bandages, Advil/Tylenol, Gravol, Immodium, Zantac or Tums
- Ginger (cookies and/or pills and/or candies) work like Gravol only non-drowsy
- Vitamins
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Hat
- One small travel alarm clock
- Several grocery bags for dirty or wet laundry
- "Ziploc" type baggies
- A watch
- Bicycle helmet (A must!)
- Extra T-shirt, underwear and socks for carry-on bag
- A novel or magazines for the plane
- Small gift for host family e.g. maple syrup (unwrapped- as security might unwrap it anyway)
- Snacks (nut-free please)
- Batteries (walkman, camera)
- SPENDING MONEY approx. 300 euro. Obtain before you leave (approximately 500 Canadian)
- Credit or debit cards will work in BIG stores in Holland. Also, you can use your debit card at any bank that has the interac or plus symbol (look at the back of your debit card)
